BoholRide (“we,” “our,” “us”) is a mobile application that helps commuters in Bohol, Philippines estimate tricycle and public transport fares, discover community-submitted routes, and save favorite trips. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

By using BoholRide, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Location Data

With your permission, BoholRide accesses your device's GPS location to:

• Detect your current location as a fare-calculation origin point
• Calculate estimated distances and fares between two points

You can deny or revoke location permission at any time through your device settings. If denied, you can still use BoholRide by manually typing an origin.

2.2 Account Information

If you sign in, we collect:

• Google Sign-In: your name, email address, and profile photo, as provided by Google
• Email/password sign-up: the email address and password you provide (passwords are handled securely by Firebase Authentication and are never visible to us in plain text)

You may also use BoholRide as a guest without creating an account, with limited features.

2.3 User-Submitted Content

If you submit a route, vote on a route, or mark a route as a favorite, we store:

• The route details you submit (origin, destination, fare, steps)
• Your votes/upvotes on community-submitted routes
• Your saved favorite routes

2.4 Search History

We store your recent fare searches (origin/destination pairs) on your device and, if signed in, in our database, so you can quickly reuse past searches.

2.5 Automatically Collected Information

Standard technical information such as app version and device type may be collected for debugging and analytics purposes.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information above to:

• Calculate and display fare estimates
• Show, sort, and let you interact with community-submitted routes
• Let you save and reuse favorite routes and recent searches
• Authenticate your account and keep it secure
• Improve app functionality and fix bugs

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored using Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, and related services), which applies industry-standard security practices. While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

5. Third-Party Services

BoholRide uses the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:

• Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud services)
• Google Play Services (location services, Google Sign-In)
• Android Geocoder (may use network-based services for place name lookups)

6. Your Rights

Under the Philippine Data Privacy Act, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
