What is BoholRide?
BoholRide is a free app that helps commuters in Bohol, Philippines estimate tricycle and public transport fares, discover community-submitted routes, and save their favorite trips.
Is BoholRide free to use?
Yes, BoholRide is completely free to download and use.
Do I need an account to use BoholRide?
No — you can use most features as a guest, including fare estimates and browsing community routes. Signing in (with Google or email) unlocks saving favorites, submitting routes, and syncing your search history across sessions.
Fare Estimates
How accurate are the fare estimates?
Fare estimates are calculated based on distance and general fare guidelines, including local government unit (LGU) ordinances where available. They're meant as a helpful reference, not a guarantee — always confirm the actual fare with your driver before boarding, since drivers and LGUs set the actual rates.
Why does the fare estimate seem different from what my driver quoted?
Actual fares can vary by driver, time of day, traffic, or updates to local fare ordinances that haven't yet been reflected in the app. If you notice a fare that's consistently off, you can report it using the "Route-related report" option in the Menu.
Does BoholRide work offline?
Yes, for most core features. Once you have a GPS fix, fare calculation, distance estimation, and place lookup for anywhere in Bohol's bundled barangay/municipality data all work without an internet connection. An internet connection is only needed for account sign-in, syncing community routes, and looking up places outside Bohol's bundled data.
Why is my GPS location inaccurate?
GPS accuracy can be affected by weather, tall buildings, being indoors, or a weak satellite signal. If your location looks wrong, try moving to an open area, waiting a few seconds for a fresh GPS fix, or manually typing your location instead.
Routes
What are community-submitted routes?
These are transport routes shared by other BoholRide users — showing the steps, transfers, and typical fares for getting from one place to another. Anyone can submit a route and vote on existing ones.
Are community-submitted routes verified by BoholRide?
No — this information comes directly from users and hasn't been independently verified. Use it as a helpful reference alongside your own judgment.
How do I submit a route?
Go to the Routes tab and tap "Submit a route suggestion," or save a route directly from a fare calculation on the Home screen.
Account & Privacy
What's the difference between signing in with Google and with email?
Both give you the same access to your account — it's just a matter of preference. Google Sign-In uses your existing Google account; email sign-in lets you create a BoholRide-specific login.
How do I delete my account?
Contact us at boholrideapp@gmail.com to request account deletion.
What data does BoholRide collect?
See our full Privacy Policy for details. In short: your location (for fare calculation), basic account info if you sign in, and any routes/favorites/search history you create.
Troubleshooting
Google Sign-In isn't working.
Make sure you have an internet connection and that Google Play Services is up to date on your device. If the problem persists, try signing in with email instead, or contact support.
The app is showing an old/incorrect fare after I calculate again.
Try closing and reopening the app. If the issue continues, let us know via the "Route-related report" option so we can look into it.
I found a bug. How do I report it?
Use the "Route-related report" option in the Menu, or email us directly at boholrideapp@gmail.com.
